Le changement climatique et la dégradation de l’environnement constituent une menace existentielle pour l’Europe et le reste du monde. Pour relever ces défis, le pacte vert pour l’Europe transformera l’UE en une économie moderne, efficace dans l’utilisation des ressources et compétitive, garantissant:

• la fin des émissions nettes de gaz à effet de serre d’ici à 2050,
• une croissance économique dissociée de l’utilisation des ressources,
• que personne n’est laissé de côté.

Le pacte vert pour l’Europe est également notre ligne de conduite pour sortir de la pandémie de COVID-19. Un tiers des 1 800 milliards d’euros d’investissements du plan de relance NextGenerationEU et le budget septennal de l’UE financeront le pacte vert pour l’Europe.

Résultat de la COP28: abandonner progressivement les combustibles fossiles et réduire les émissions mondiales de 43 % d’ici à 2030.

13 décembre 2023 – Un accord a été conclu lors de la conférence des Nations unies sur les changements climatiques (COP28) à Dubaï, en vue d’accélérer la réduction des émissions vers le zéro net d'ici à 2050 en menant une action urgente au cours de cette décennie critique. Il s’agit notamment d’abandonner les combustibles fossiles et de réduire les émissions mondiales de 43 % d’ici à 2030. En outre, les dirigeants mondiaux se sont engagés à tripler la capacité en matière d’énergies renouvelables et à doubler le taux d’amélioration de l’efficacité énergétique d’ici à 2030. Face à l’importance grandissante de l’adaptation au changement climatique, l’Union européenne consacre des montants records pour financer la transition climatique internationale.
