Jacques Delors ha plasmato la visione di un'Europa unita. È stato un fervente sostenitore dell'integrazione europea del dopoguerra e costruttore dell'Unione europea che conosciamo oggi. È stato presidente della Commissione europea per tre mandati dal gennaio 1985 alla fine del 1994: un periodo caratterizzato da un profondo impegno a favore della libertà, della giustizia sociale e della solidarietà, valori ormai radicati nella nostra Unione.
Jacques Delors è venuto a mancare il 27 dicembre 2023 all'età di 98 anni.
