I deres strategiske planer beskriver Kommissionens afdelinger, hvordan de vil bidrage til Kommissionens 6 politiske prioriteter. De fastlægger specifikke mål for deres egen afdeling for en femårsperiode samt indikatorer, der skal hjælpe dem med at følge udviklingen. Alle afdelinger aflægger hvert år rapport om de fremskridt, der er gjort med hensyn til deres årlige aktivitetsrapporter.
