We need to talk about racism. And we need to act. It is always possible to change direction if there is a will to do so. I am glad to live in a society that condemns racism. But we should not stop there. The motto of our European Union is: ‘United in diversity’. Our task it to live up to these words, and to fulfil their meaning

Report on the Implementation of Anti-Racism Action Plans
The first EU anti-racism action plan adopted in September 202 recalls that racial discrimination continues to be a scourge, with negative effects on the whole of society. This report provides an overview of the progress achieved in the implementation of the action plan and offers guidance to Member States on the development and implementation of effective national action plans against racism, following the structure of the action plan.

On 21 March 2022, the Commission will organise the European Anti-Racism Summit 2022 with the support of the ARDI Intergroup of the European Parliament and Council of Europe’s European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI/CoE) with the involvement of civil society, equality bodies and grassroots organisations.

EU Anti-Racism Summit – 19 March 2021
The European Commission is organising a Summit Against Racism on 19 March 2021 at the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (21 March). This Summit, co-hosted by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union and in cooperation with the ARDI Intergroup of the European Parliament, will address the implementation of the European Anti-Racism Action Plan at various levels with the involvement of EU Institutions, Member States, civil society, equality bodies and grassroots organisations.
Common guiding principles for national action plans against racism and racial discrimination
The European Commission strongly encourages Member States to develop and adopt national action plans against racism and racial discrimination in 2022 with close involvement of civil society and equality bodies. To support Member States in their efforts, on March 2021 the Commission established a Subgroup of member States experts which elaborated common guiding principles required to produce effective national action plans against racism and racial discrimination. The common guiding principles are intended to serve as a basis for Member States and facilitate the process of developing and implementing a national action plan. The guidelines were officially published in March 2022
