What the Commission is doing
Objectives
Currently, European Union customs policy focuses on the following areas:
- Revision of the governance of the customs union
- Modernisation of the legal framework including strengthening of areas such as risk management or security and safety
- Extension of the use of European electronic information systems
- Support for the improvement of the single market in the area of customs handling of goods
