Ahead of International Women's Day on 8 March, the European Commission has presented its gender equality strategy for 2026-2030. The strategy embeds gender equality into every aspect of life, online and offline.

The European Commission has set out a plan to make the EU’s regions bordering Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine more secure, resilient, and attractive places to live and work.

The European Commission has presented the ‘European Democracy Shield’ that provides concrete measures to empower, protect, and promote strong and resilient democracies, while also supporting and safeguarding civil society organisations that play an essential role in fostering democratic life.

The 2026 Commission work programme outlines actions to build a more sovereign and independent Europe. It addresses the challenges arising from the threats to our security and democracy, the conflicts and geopolitical tensions, the risks to our economy, and the accelerating climate change.

The Commission and the High Representative presented an international strategy to secure Europe’s place in global markets. It will do so by using diplomacy to protect our core interests, promoting standards for a clean transition and addressing new security threats endangering our common interests.

From 10 October, new EU-wide rules apply that will help us to navigate and understand the complex online and offline political arena better, with more transparency.  

Safer Internet Day promotes safer and more responsible use of online technology, especially for children and young people.
