Rangemad andmekaitse-eeskirjad tähendavad seda, et inimestel on suurem kontroll oma isikuandmete üle ja ettevõtjad saavad kasu võrdsetest tingimustest.

Taust

Alates maist 2018, mil jõustus isikuandmete kaitse üldmäärus, kohaldatakse kõigi ELi ettevõtjate (olenemata nende asukohast) suhtes vaid ühtesid andmekaitse-eeskirju.

Rangemad andmekaitse-eeskirjad tähendavad järgmist:

  • inimestel on suurem kontroll oma isikuandmete üle;
  • ettevõtjad saavad kasu võrdsetest tingimustest.

Juunis 2020 avaldas Euroopa Komisjon hindamisaruande isikuandmete kaitse üldmääruse kohta.

Isikuandmete kaitse üldmäärus – edulugu

Kaks aastat pärast isikuandmete kaitse üldmääruse jõustumist võib öelda, et määruse rakendamine on olnud edukas.

Background

As of May 2018, with the entry into application of the General Data Protection Regulation, there is one set of data protection rules for all companies operating in the EU, wherever they are based.

Stronger rules on data protection mean

  • people have more control over their personal data
  • businesses benefit from a level playing field

In June 2020, the European Commission published an evaluation report on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
