Stocktaking report on the Commission working methods for monitoring the application of EU law

The Commission carried out a stocktaking exercise to ensure that the right enforcement tools are available and used to make EU law work in practice. The report in the form of Staff Working Document has identified ways to further improve the Commission’s working methods for the enforcement of EU law and includes recommendations on six strands of work: delivering the strategic approach; handling infringements efficiently and revamping performance management; facilitating the treatment of complaints; making the monitoring of regulations more systematic; increasing support to Member States; and stepping up transparency.
