School building security and structural rehabilitation plan Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project consisting in fire control measures is part of this investment.

The comprehensive Institute "Gobetti - Marchesini e Casale" is located in via Rovigo at number 19 in Turin, in the area north of the city.

The building was initially built to house the School for Chemical Experts and boasts a tradition of over ten years.

The internal distribution and equipment make it suitable for specialized teaching activities.

It is spread over five floors above ground, in addition to a basement, where there are - in addition to the premises for frontal teaching - numerous laboratories, stores, offices and services.

The project involves the construction of a new fire detection and alarm system.

It is planned to build an IRAI system conforming to the fire prevention project and so declined: manual alarm buttons and optical-acoustic sirens covering the entire building; optical smoke detectors inside the basement, in laboratories and environments for specific use; interfacing with the plants of natural gas detectors (existing) within the laboratories that use it.

The alarm signal will be communicated through the activation of the sirens of the fire alarm system in the project.
