The investment consists of providing funding (EUR 256m by the Recovery and Resilience Facility) to switch to buses equipped with zero carbon-emitting technologies, including the development of the necessary infrastructure such as recharging and refueling stations. The initial call for tenders started in February 2022. As a first result funding commitments were made for ten projects in seven federal states for 289 busses. One of the successful projects is implemented by the public transport company of Vorarlberg, which will receive over the next years 130 new zero-emission buses for the projects VERDE I - VERDE III. To mark the importance of zero-emission public transport, during her visit to Vienna on 11 April 2022, Energy Commissioner Simson travelled to some of her appointment by an electric bus of the Vienna public transport company.More information can be found here and press releases can be found here.More information on social media can be found on Twitter here.
