Water expertise growth and export programme / Water Ecosystem to Africa (WETA)

With €211 462, the Recovery and Resilience Facility supports the project which focuses on increasing Finnish companies' exports to Africa, primarily through South Africa as the main gateway to the rest of Africa.

The project is made up of a set of mutually supportive competences, including export companies, scientific expertise, export and market knowledge, network and ecosystem expertise. Research, development and innovation work is also at the heart of the close cooperation between the project partners, supporting export, export-enhancing product development and localisation of solutions.

The project will, for example, identify the real needs of South Africa in the field of water technology. The information will also be widely communicated outside the project to Finnish companies, both in the water sector and in other industries.

In addition to direct and immediate export impacts, long-term indirect impacts will be sought by building ecosystems that can effectively link to the South African market in cooperation with local actors. The project will also support sustainable development by promoting the adoption of energy and resource efficient solutions in Africa.

The project is expected to be completed by May 2025.
