The goal of the investment was to promote rail traffic and connectivity with city centres. The upgrade of the railway station ensured a friendlier infrastructure adapted to people with reduced mobility. The upgrade will reduce maintenance costs while ensuring a higher level of railway safety and passenger safety.

The upgrade of the Domžale railway station included improving the tracks and railway equipment, building new platforms and an underpass that will be accessible to people with disability, improving the station building, creating parking areas and bicycle storage, and upgrading the safety and communication systems.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provided funding of EUR 10.4 million, while the total value of the investment was EUR 17.9 million.

The works started in July 2022 and ere be finalised in July 2023.
