This project promotes access to culture. In particular, it aims to improve the reading rate by increasing the number of paper books in public libraries, which have already been widely distributed throughout the country. With a total of EUR 10 million of funding, each public library has received a minimum amount of EUR 1,500 for the purchase of books and has selected those that best fit its users: literature, children’s stories, youth narrative, etc. Among the purchases, libraries in the Balearic Islands incorporate inclusive materials, such as easy-to-read or large print works. As a result, the libraries of the whole of Spain are expected to be provided with 450.000 new copies. For the time being, the project has been carried out in public libraries sited in municipalities of Asturias, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla – La Mancha, Cataluña, Extremadura, Galicia, and Basque Country. Amount granted: EUR 10 million for the whole of Spain. ReferenceC24.I2 in the Spanish Recovery and Resilience PlanProject locations Spain EU contribution€10 000 000
