Promoting remote working in the public service

 The objective of this reform is to enhance remote working in the public sector. The possibility to work from home or from regional hubs reduces the number of journeys to and from work and alleviates traffic congestion, besides improving the work-life balance. Both steps of this reform have been completed. Several office facilities, accommodating multiple workstations, are operational for remote work by public service officials across the Maltese Islands. A Remote Working Policy for Government Employees was also published on 14 September 2021 outlining the eligibility criteria, conditions, requirements and application guidelines governing this remote working initiative.
