School building security and structural rehabilitation plan Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project consisting in fire control measures is part of this investment.

The branch of the Institute "Curie - Levi" of Turin is located on the outskirts west of the city, in an area where there is also the I.I.S. "Carlo Cattaneo".

The area is bordered by Corso Francia, Corso Marche, Via Pietro Cossa and an area of high population density.

It is well served by public transport and is a pole of attraction.

The building is spread over two floors above ground and has a reinforced concrete frame structure, with horizons and prefabricated facade panels.

On the mezzanine floor there is the entrance hall, a meeting room of generous size, classrooms and services.

Upstairs there are about ten classrooms, offices, services and changing rooms.

The realization of the fire detection and evacuation alarm system, designed for the regulatory and functional adaptation useful for the purposes of obtaining the CPI.
