Enhancement of Rotonta monumental complex (Unesco monument) in Thessaloniki

Rotonta is located in the eastern part of the historical center of Thessaloniki and is one of the most important Roman monuments in Greece, built by Galerius around 300 AD and now part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites.

The project concerns the preservation and enhancement of the monument complex focusing on protecting its structure and shell and developing the landscaping of the surrounding area.

The key objectives of the project include:

  • Restoring the Rotonta’s accessibility and facilitating its use, both internally and in its immediate surroundings.
  • Redesigning  and restoring the southeast section of the Rotonta’s perimeter to highlight the entire monumental complex.

Total budget: EUR 550,000
RRF contribution: EUR 494,804
