Digital transformation of healthcare

The objectives of the investments in digitalisation transition of healthcare are:

  • the introduction of new digital services and the digitalisation of existing ones;
  • faster sharing or access to data on patient documentation and treatment;
  • faster production of various analytical reports as a basis for the ongoing adoption and adaptation of health interventions;
  • the use of information technology to communicate with patients and other health system stakeholders;
  • the planning of hospital capacities, medical services and material needs on the basis of actual use;
  • better patient management planning;
  • monitoring the quality of hearings on the basis of real-time data.

The investment focuses on 4 main areas: 1. healthcare users, 2. healthcare providers, 3. health system decision-makers and planners, and 4. service payers. The investment will enable the integration of new digital services into healthcare, including telemedicine, the digitalisation of medical records, the establishment of a central image store, the introduction of safer dispensing medicines using robots in hospitals and the certification of IT solutions.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 83 million, while the total value of the investment is EUR 101 million. The project started in October 2022 and will be finalised by autumn 2026.
