RRF backs Romanian highway development, including the Transilvania Motorway project.
Aims to construct a 42.30 km section, enhancing safety and connectivity within the TEN-T Core network.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides financial support to the development of highways across Romania. The general objective of the Transilvania Motorway construction project, of which the Nadașelu - Poarta Sălajului Section is also a part, is the construction of a motorway sector that will connect the urban agglomerations of Cluj and Oradea and is part of a larger measure, with the aim of modernizing and the development of the infrastructure of national interest, within the TEN-T Core network, so as to ensure the increase in the degree of safety, the speed of travel and the improvement of transport conditions. Also, the project aims to create a modern communication path with implications for the regional and national development of the area, streamlining traffic between the municipalities of Cluj and Oradea, increasing user safety, reducing travel times, reducing the degree of pollution at all levels in the areas transited. The project consists in the construction of 42.30 km of highway with an allocated budget from RRF of approximately 1.3 billion EUR. The execution of works is estimated to be finalized in July 2024.
