The aim of this measure is to reduce CO2 emissions from energy consumption and industrial processes.

The investment is implemented through a call for R&D partnership projects to bring technologies to the level of (pre)- industrial demonstration or pilot versions in the domains of  (i) electrification of industrial processes, (ii) hydrogen production by electrolysis or by methane pyrolysis, (iii) direct use of hydrogen in industrial applications, (iv) capture and concentration of CO2 emissions and (v) decarbonisation of ammonia production processes. Energy-intensive industries (ETS companies), technology industries (small, medium and large companies) and universities or research centres are expected to significantly benefit from this investment.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility supports this measure with EUR 34 million.

Contracts have been already awarded in April 2022. The measure is expected to be completed in 2026.
