The Comprehensive Conservation of Prešeren's homestead in Vrba

The project's objective is the renovation of Prešeren's birth house and a former farm building, with the latter being transformed into an interpretation center equipped to support museum and cultural activities.

This initiative aims to showcase Prešeren's house as a testament to its ethnological significance, while concurrently reintegrating the homestead complex to present a cohesive narrative with unified content.

In alignment with a comprehensive urban development strategy, the renovation plan for Prešeren House and the outbuilding encompasses the establishment of a reception center for visitors, featuring a museum shop, the creation of a dedicated space for museum presentations, the provision of a multi-purpose area for lectures and visitor guidance, the allocation of office space for employees, the development of an outdoor event space, and the improvement of the route leading to the church of St. Mark.

This integrated approach ensures the seamless revitalization of both Prešeren's birth house and the surrounding complex, delivering a harmonized experience for visitors while preserving the cultural and historical significance of the site.

Financial support for this initiative is provided by the Recovery and Resilience Facility, contributing EUR 2.4 million to a project valued at EUR 3 million in total.

The revelation of the castle's renovation plans took place in 2022, and the actual restoration is set to begin in 2024, reaching completion by June 2026.
