The EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) needs to renew the members and alternate members of its Board of Appeal, and has published a call for interested for qualified experts to apply for these positions.

ACER plays a central role in fostering the integration and completion of the European internal energy market for electricity and natural gas. It has the power to adopt binding individual decisions. Any directly and individually concerned natural or legal person can appeal against those decisions before ACER’s Board of Appeal, which consists of 6 members and 6 alternates, serving a 5 year term.

The terms of the current members and alternates ends on 18 October 2021. The new members and alternates will be selected and proposed by the European Commission, following this call for expression of interest, and formally appointed by ACER’s Administrative Board.

The full text of the extended call further explains the organisation and work of the Board of Appeal, the working conditions, the criteria for selecting candidates and the details on how to apply. Compared to the initial call for expression of interest, the conditions have improved.

The deadline for applying has been extended to Tuesday 25 May 2021, 24.00 (CEST). Applications must be sent by e-mail, and in English, to ENER-BOA-ACERatec [dot] europa [dot] eu (ENER-BOA-ACER[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu).
