Olivia from Spain was just 13 when she developed the Jelly Cleaner – a simple filtering device made from two plastic bottles and a pair of tights to trap microplastics and clean the ocean. Now a European Climate Pact Ambassador, Olivia has gone on to give numerous presentations on the Jelly Cleaner, climate change and the health of the oceans to schools, universities, and international organisations.
She is fired up by her mission: “Climate change is a global problem that is affecting everyone. We are the ones who have caused climate change, but we are also the ones who have the power and obligation to fix it.”
If you’re committed to informing and inspiring climate action in your community, now is your chance to become a European Climate Pact Ambassador, too. You can be young or old - all you need to demonstrate is that you’re ready to inspire and motivate others to take climate action and be a changemaker.
You have until 31 October 2026 to submit your European Climate Pact Ambassador application. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis – so early applications are welcome!
What is the Climate Pact?
It’s a movement of people who are each taking action to help build a cleaner and more resilient Europe. Launched by the European Commission, it supports the EU's goal to become climate-neutral by 2050.
If you’re chosen as a climate pact ambassador, you will get involved in community building, share your own climate actions and solutions, and organise practical activities such as tree planting days or car-free initiatives. You will also get the opportunity to join high-level events and exchanges at local, regional and EU levels.
You will become part of a growing and diverse community of over 1,000 Climate Pact Ambassadors and dozens of partner organisations.
Take inspiration from Olivia: “Any person can start by creating change in their own home, or even at school or at work. And this creates a ripple effect. The future will be ours – it’s in our hands right now. We need to act before it’s too late, for us and for all future generations.”
