Energy

This Commission department is responsible for the EU's energy policy which focuses on delivering secure, sustainable, and affordable energy for Europe.

Responsibilities

The Directorate-General for Energy develops and supports the implementation of the Commission's policies on energy.

The EU’s energy policy priorities include investing in clean energy, making energy affordable for households and companies, and ensuring access to secure and diversified energy supplies, including by eliminating Europe’s dependency on Russian fossil fuels. Boosting EU competitiveness in the energy sector is key to achieving these goals, allowing Europe to close the innovation gap with the U.S and China, advance our decarbonisation efforts and decrease international energy dependencies.
