Architecture building and testing methods

Purpose

The purpose of architecture building is to organise content, visual elements, functionalities, interactions and navigation in a logical manner to support usability and findability.

Testing ensures that concepts are validated as they evolve, informs iteration and helps avoid issues at a later [more expensive] stage.

Testing methods you can use

  • Card sorting allows you to test and refine the groups and categories you have defined. There are a number of tools available – please contact DG Communication for details
  • Tree testing applies tasks and scenarios taken from user research and evaluates the information structure, ensuring that structure corresponds to users’ logic
