With EUR 133 722, the Recovery and Resilience Facility supports the development of a pre-treatment process to produce high quality process water from seawater. The aim of the project is to develop a pre-treatment method for brackish water desalination which: a) prevents the transport of organic matter from seawater to reverse osmosis units b) is as far as possible chemical-free and therefore environmentally sound c) is replicable in coastal areas of the Baltic Sea region to provide the high quality water needed by industry process water. In addition, public actors, water companies and educational institutions will be able to promote a) the implementation of the developed concept and b) the improvement of the competitiveness of these companies. The project aims to be completed by December 2023.
