Urban waste water discharge and treatment projects

The investments entail the financing of the construction of energy-efficient waste water discharge and treatment systems in agglomerations that are individually below 2000 p.e., where there will be no additional energy consumption.

In the case of investment in the upgrade of treatment plants, the average electricity consumption will be at least 10 per cent lower. The investment consists of 25 urban waste water discharge and treatment projects.

The projects selected for funding through a public call are being implemented by municipalities. Priority is be given to projects to build waste water discharge and treatment systems that contribute to the conservation of Natura 2000 and water protection areas.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility contributes EUR 54 million to the investment. The projects will be carried out by June 2026.
