Urban Cycle Path Piazza Cina - Torrino - EUR

Investment in soft mobility (National Plan of Cycle Path)  (Mission 2 – Component 2:  Investment 4.1)

Italy’s Recovery and resilience plan provides for the construction of at least 565 km of cycling lanes in metropolitan areas and at least 746 km of tourist cycle paths. Cycle paths will facilitate first-mile and last-mile commuting – connecting locations in metropolitan areas to nearby railway or metro nodes, or universities to nearby railway or metro nodes. The eligible tourist cycle paths are defined in Law no. 208 of 28 December 2015.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 466.6 million.

This project is part of this investment. The cycle path linking the Torrino district, the Tor di Valle Station, and the upcoming 'pista degli Oceani' represents a strategic infrastructure aimed at improving sustainable mobility in the area. This route facilitates access to key public transport connections, such as the metro, and important local destinations including schools, making it a valuable resource for both students and commuters. By integrating with the wider cycling network under development, the path contributes to a more connected and accessible urban environment. This intervention is part of the broader objectives of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), which promotes the development of cycling infrastructure in 40 Italian cities through projects involving both maintenance and new construction. The aim is to support both tourist/recreational and urban mobility needs. In line with this, Roma Capitale has launched a multi-year programme to encourage the use of bicycles as a structural means of daily transport. The programme is designed to enhance safety and accessibility for cyclists, fostering a shift towards more sustainable, efficient, and healthy modes of transportation in the city.

This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 1.962.270,28.
