Copyright: Slovene government / Direkcija RS za infrastrukturo The Nova Gorica railway station is located on the single-track, non-electrified regional railway line no. 70 Jesenice–Sežana. The upgrade of the Nova Gorica railway station will meet one of the prerequisites for the introduction of high-quality passenger rail services. The measures implemented will ensure enhanced infrastructure capacity, enabling greater functionality of the railway station, a higher level of safety, as well as increased flexibility and throughput of railway traffic. The upgrading of Nova Gorica railway station shall bring additional accessibility to the users.The project will ensure an increase in the station's capacity, enhance traffic safety levels, provide more user-friendly and accessible infrastructure, enable more flexible traffic operations, and accommodate the operation of longer freight trains.The upgrade of the Nova Gorica railway station will include: upgrading of tracks and track devices;construction of a new side and island platform; construction of an underpass to the platform infrastructure with elements or devices for functionally impaired and disabled people under all station tracks that will connect Trg Evrope with Nova Gorica;arrangement of the station building (lobby, waiting room, SVTK area, offices of the transport office and toilets);arrangement of the parking lot and bus stop; construction of a loading ramp for the car train , which runs on the Nova Gorica–Bohinjska Bistrica route;upgrading of signaling, telecommunications and electrical installation devices.The goal of this investment is to increase the capacity of the station, increase the level of traffic safety, make the infrastructure more user-friendly and accessible, make traffic more flexible, and enable the operation of longer freight trains. The railway station upgrade will have a major multinational impact as it is on the border with Italy.The Recovery and Resilience Facility contributes EUR 43 million to the investment worth EUR 60.5 million in total.
