Copyright: BICIPALMA The NextGenerationEU funds finance a project to improve urban mobility led by the Palma City Council, aimed at promoting sustainable mobility. The project incorporates measures to calm traffic and reclaim spaces for citizens. Among other actions, it includes the conversion of certain streets into pedestrian zones and the expansion of sidewalks; the creation of a Low Emission Zone in the city center; the expansion and improvement of the public bicycle service BICIPALMA, which has over 15,000 users; the purchase of electric buses and the installation of a charging station; the expansion of the parking regulation area (ORA) and the purchase of electric trucks for waste collection. These actions are in line with the 'Palma Camina' plan to reduce emissions and calm traffic.
