Education strategies in the field of software and technologies of the future, such as XR technologies, do not yet sufficiently meet the needs of the economy in Slovenia and Europe. There is a growing need for specific skills, while these technologies offer and enable alternative ways of teaching in practically all fields.

XR technologies represent a new, modern digital and interactive medium. They are recognised as one of the key new digital technologies in the EU, enabling innovative and economically competitive solutions to be realised.

The purpose of the project is to explore, test and demonstrate the potential for using virtual, enriched and augmented reality technologies in primary and secondary education to guide and support the rational use of advanced technologies to update and improve the quality of the learning process.

The objectives of the project are to:

  • Set up a multidisciplinary team composed of teachers and project partners and prepare proposals for the implementation of training modules to train teachers in content development or in the use of tools or the introduction of specific XR technology elements
  • Deliver modular courses in different locations across Slovenia to increase the digital competences of target groups (teachers, trainers, mentors, students, experts) in content development, use and teaching with the help of XR – Innovative Teaching for the 21st Century
  • Establish learning labs where teachers of partners can operate, where learning laboratories will be physically established, while making equipment more widely available
  • Develop and encourage the development of new innovative pedagogical approaches and didactic tools in XR technologies
  • Develop educational content and create an e-learning facility.

Target groups: teachers and pupils in primary schools, primary schools with tailor-made programmes; and institutions for the education and training of children and adolescents with special needs, medium vocational and vocational schools and gymnasiums, education researchers, education policy makers.

The key activities of the project are:

  • Development of modules, contents, curricula and methodologies
  • Teacher education and training - Development of tools and preparation of learning content
  • Establishment of six learning laboratories

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 799,000, while the total value of the investment is EUR 848,000. The project started in July 2024 and will be finalised in April 2026.
