Sustainable urban mobility

This reform promotes sustainable urban mobility in Bulgaria, through the use of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans integrated into territorial strategies for the development of NUTS 2 (Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics) planning regions and integrated into development municipal plans.

Bulgaria adopted Integrated Territorial Strategies for the development of six NUTS 2 planning regions, with the inclusion of elements of sustainable urban mobility at regional level.

These define the development objectives and priorities of each planning region as well as the measures necessary for their implementation. Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans have been included into the Integrated Municipal Development Plans of the urban municipalities.

The implementation of the reform has been completed.
