This reform promotes sustainable urban mobility in Bulgaria.
Bulgaria adopted Integrated Territorial Strategies for the development of six NUTS 2 planning regions, with the inclusion of elements of sustainable urban mobility at regional level.
These define the development objectives and priorities of each planning region as well as the measures necessary for their implementation.
Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans have been included into the Integrated Municipal Development Plans of the urban municipalities.
The next step in the reform foresees the evaluation of the implementation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans.
The public transport of 20 municipalities with approved Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans will be supported by the purchase of f clean urban public transportzero-emission vehicles and the installation of charging infrastructure.
The reform is expected to be completed by June 2025.
