This Barcelona City Council project is creating the largest Low Emission Zone (ZBE) in Europe, with a total of 95 km².

The initiative has 74.5 million euros from the NextGenerationEU funds and plans to progressively limit the traffic of vehicles that generate the most harmful emissions for the environment.

The implementation of ZBEs is a key strategy to preserve air quality, reduce noise pollution and ensure the right to public health.

  • Control of the Zone of Low Emissions (ZBE)

  • Extension of the red bike lanes

  • Improvement of vertical accessibility in mountain neighborhoods (elevators and stairs)

  • The so-called 'superilles'

  • Reduction of road capacity in the axes of the city (Meridiana)

  • Barcelona City 30

  • Electrification of public transport (purchase of vehicles)

  • Digitization of mobility services (SMOU and SPRO applications).
