SPOZNAJ: Supporting the implementation of open science principles in Slovenia - Digitalisation of education, science and sports

The objective of the project is to encourage and support public research organisations to actively adapt research, academic and related support processes towards full adaptation of operations in line with open science principles.

The aim of the project is to raise awareness, educate and empower consortium partners’ staff with relevant open science skills and competences, prepare educational materials, set up support structures and adapt the operating mechanisms of the consortium partners in line with open science principles. In addition to the consortium partners, the project will address other relevant stakeholders in scientific research activities – private research and higher education organisations, private researchers, public agencies and other public institutions, business entities and other interested public.

The consortium in composed of:

  • The Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana as project coordinator,
  • University of Ljubljana, with Social Science Data Archives in lead for one of the workpackages,
  • University of Maribor, with the University Library Maribor in the lead for one of the work packages,
  • University of Primorska,
  • Faculty of Information Studies Novo mesto,
  • Geological Survey of Slovenia,
  • Slovenian Forestry Institute,
  • ‘Jožef Stefan’ Institute,
  • Institute for Hydraulic Research, Ljubljana, 
  • Institute for Ethnic Studies
  • Institute of Contemporary History,
  • National Institute of Chemistry,
  • Agricultural Institute of Slovenia,
  • National Institute of Biology,
  • Educational Research Institute,
  • Rudolfovo - Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto,
  • Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia,
  • Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute,
  • Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts,
  • Science and Research Centre Koper, and
  • Science and Innovation Centre Pomurje.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 4 million, the total value of the investment. 

The project started in August 2023 and will be finalised by June 2026.
