The aim of the project is to build a sewerage system for the drainage of urban wastewater in the area of villages Dolenje Kronovo and Vinica pri Šmarjeti and the biological treatment plant in Vinica pri Šmarjeti. By doing so, the Municipality of Šmarješke Toplice aims to reduce urban wastewater emissions into subsoils and watercourses, thereby protecting the environment – including water protection areas and Natura 2000 sites.

The project consists of the construction of a public system for the discharge and treatment of urban wastewater in the Municipality of Šmarješke Toplice and the construction and reconstruction of other wastewater infrastructure in Dolenje Kronovo by constructing a sewerage system for urban wastewater discharges of 2,680 m in total. 120 inhabitants and 42 facilities will be connected to the new sewer for urban wastewater discharge once the investment is completed.

The project also includes Vinica pri Šmarjeti with the construction of a sewerage system for urban wastewater drainage, the construction of a biological treatment plant of 150 population units. Once the investment has been completed, 105 inhabitants and 38 facilities will be connected to the new sewerage for urban wastewater drains.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 614,028, while the total value of the investment is EUR 1.5 million.

The project started in 2021 and will be finalised by 2024.
