Plan for the extension of full-time (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 1.2)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the extension of school time, in order to increase the educational offer of schools and make them open and available to the territory beyond school hours. The measure envisages the construction or renovation of canteen spaces for at least 1 000 structures to allow for the extension of school time. Extended schooling hours are expected to have a positive impact on the fight against early school leaving. The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1 billion. As part of this investment, the project aims to solve the limited capacity of the existing canteen, which currently has around 50 seats for refreshments, compared to the 350 pupils present. The aim of the proposal is to construct a new building dedicated exclusively to the canteen, in order to reduce the number of canteen shifts. In addition to the construction of the new canteen, there are plans to build a covered walkway connecting the new building to the existing school. The building will be located within an area owned by the Municipality of Rome, which is currently used as a car park and intended to serve the school district. The structure of the new building will be built with a solid reinforced concrete load-bearing structure and perimeter walls. The plugging will be carried out with the aim of ensuring maximum efficiency. From the plant engineering point of view, the installation of air conditioning, electrical, water and sanitation systems and sewage and clear water disposal will be planned. This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 618.206,00.
