Scholarships for access to the University

Scholarships for University access (Mission 4 – Component 1, Investment 1.7)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for equal access to education, by easing access to tertiary education for students in socio-economic difficulties and with a relatively high opportunity cost of advanced studies against an early transition on the labour market. In particular, this will be achieved through an increase in the number of scholarships provided to university students under the RRF support. This measure is complemented by React-EU which is expected to fund 13 000 scholarships for university access for the year 2023 in Southern Regions.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan by EUR 800 million.

As part of this investment, the project was part of the usual process of awarding university scholarships adopted every year by the Scholarship Office. The funds of the NRRP have been used as an additional and priority source of financing with respect to the resources of the Supplementary State Fund and the own resources of the Region. The procedure (with the exception of international mobility allowances and allowances for students enrolled in the first year of their course of study, for which the merit requirement is to be verified on 10 August 2023, in any case not intended to be paid with NRRP funds) is concluded; all scholarships from NRRP resources have already been awarded. The NRRP funds allocated to this project amount to EUR 115,856.
