Revamping education programmes through the revision of key programming documents (kindergarten programmes, curricula and knowledge catalogues) - Renovating the education

The project aims to upgrade or renovate the curriculum for kindergartens, covering broad chapters and six areas of activity that will include meaningful, professionally justified and ages of children, e.g. the development of competences for sustainable development, digital competences and financial literacy basics, and will also develop a guidance document to understand common objectives and place them in curricula and knowledge catalogues. The project is part of the reform on renovating the education system for the green and digital transitions.

The document will identify areas of common objectives (such as sustainable development, health and well-being, digital and other transversal competences), define the role and relevance of each area of common objectives and provide guidance on how to place common objectives in curricula and knowledge catalogues.

The project will also provide a follow-up/renewed curriculum and revamped knowledge catalogues for general education subjects, which will also include competences for sustainable development, digital competences, entrepreneurial competences, including financial literacy, in a meaningful and professional manner.

The project’s objectives include didactic recommendations for the implementation of a subject that supports the green and digital transitions, including recommendations for the examination and assessment of knowledge complementary to the individual curriculum.

Project activities include:
• prepararing thes basis for the renewal of curricula in primary school and higher education, preparation of the Cornerstone Curriculum Renovation Platform, Preparation of the Correction Platform for General Educture Knowledge Catalogues in vocational and professional education programmes;
• developing guidelinces to understand common objectives and place them in curricula and knowledge catalogues;
• appointing the Curriculum Council and other Curriculum Commissions to carry out the renovation of the curriculum for kindergartens, curricula and knowledge catalogues. More than 400 experts and practitioners will participate in the renovation process;
• developing applications for the renewal of curricula and knowledge catalogues, which will allow the preparation of programming documents and associated didactic recommendations and, once adopted, their application to teachers at school;
• preparing proposals for a renewed curriculum for kindergartens, curricula with accompanying didactic recommendations and knowledge catalogues, and submit documents for adoption or designation to the relevant expert council.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 3.942 million, while the total cost of tje project is EUR 3.986 million. The project started in January 2021 and will be finalised by December 2025.
