Removing administrative barriers

The objective of the reform is to lower the administrative burden for businesses and citizens, reduce the cost of administrative procedures and simplify related legislation in Slovenia.

The reform consists of the adoption of two ‘Debureaucratisation Acts’ packages of legislative changes aiming at regulatory simplification.

The first Act was adopted in December 2021. Its aim is to reduce administrative barriers for businesses and citizens, simplify legislation, streamline the existing procedures and remove burdensome procedures through amendments and additions to laws covering several ministerial departments.

Instead of the second Act, by end of 2022 Slovenia modified 25 existing pieces of legislation, which further reduced administrative barriers. This was done following a wide-ranging public consultations with NGOs, business representatives, trade unions, municipalities and others.
