Reinforcement and static restoration, seismic consolidation and securing of the primary school building in Via Manzoni 27

Construction of New Schools through Building Replacement (Mission 2 - Component 3 - Investment 1.1).

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the progressive replacement of part of the building stock of public schools with the aim of creating modern and sustainable structures.

The objectives of the interventions are the reduction of energy consumption, an increased seismic safety of buildings, and the development of green areas.

The plan is expected to target 166 school buildings, with a total of 400 thousand m².

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1 billion.

The project restoring the school in Via Manzoni 27 is part of this investment.

The project envisages the reinforcement, static restoration and seismic consolidation of the primary school building.

The NRRP funds allocated to this project amount to EUR 945,000.

The interventions are summarized below:
- construction of stiffening seam on top: circle the building by means of floor bands that will improve the connection of the orthogonal walls between them thus increasing the flexural strength of the walls perpendicular to the seismic action.
- facade painting
- plastering of the lower part with restoration of the walls
- reconstruction of the lower part of the window frame
- overhaul of roof and gutters and rain gutters
- restoration of existing windows and shutters
- verification and maintenance of secondary structural elements: thermographic analysis for possible piercing, including preparation of the plan for their safety and localised restoration
- overhaul of existing electrical installations
- consolidation of the masonry of the staircase blocks by means of network application preformed fiber-reinforced composite material gfrp consisting of fiber AR glass and epoxy-type thermosetting resin, the execution of perforations for the insertion of suitable connectors having appropriate length and application structural plaster including painting
- rehabilitation and restoration of fronts and terraces in c.a.
- Steel exoskeleton construction on De Amicis Street and postal office with relative new foundations with execution of micropiles, demolition of the ramp and reconstruction
-  demolition of roof slab portion, pillars and faceplate
