The Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the protection and increase of green areas in the 14 Metropolitan cities of Italy.The investment aims to protect green areas and increase their number with the objective of both preserving and enhancing biodiversity and increasing the quality of life of the inhabitants of those areas.The actions will concentrate on the 14 metropolitan cities of Italy, which are the most exposed to environmental problems like air pollution, loss of biodiversity or to the effects of climate change.The goal is to plant forest reproductive material (seeds or plants) for at least 4.5 million trees and shrubs in 4 500 hectares and to transplant at least 3.5 million trees in their final destination.The planting and transplanting is ongoing.The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding for this investment of EUR 210 million.As part of this investment, the area of "Genova Verde" is benefitting from interventions of reforestation.
