Redevelopment and safety improvement of the preschool on Via Pigna to create the nursery “L’Arcobaleno”

Plan for nurseries and preschools and early childhood education and care services (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 1.1)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan includes an investment plan for the 0-6 age group, aimed at increasing the supply of childcare facilities by building, renovating and ensuring the safety of nurseries and preschools, to ensure an increase in the educational offer and the available slots for the 0-6 age group, and thus improve teaching quality. The measure is expected to encourage women’s participation in the labour market and support caregivers in reconciling family and professional life.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 3.2 billion.

As part of this investment, the project involves seismic upgrading, and functional, energy, and system redevelopment for the creation of a nursery. It will consist of two sections: Infants and Toddlers. The reconversion of currently unused preschool spaces aims to activate integrated services that support early childhood education and meet families’ needs in a flexible and diversified way, both structurally and organizationally. The change of use—from preschool to nursery—is intended to enhance the educational offer from early childhood and provide concrete support to families.

The nursery will be organized and dimensioned according to national and regional standards. The building reflects the typical construction techniques of its period, with a reinforced concrete frame structure and brick infill walls. All systems will be upgraded and adapted in compliance with fire prevention regulations.

The outdoor areas adjacent to the ground floor will be fully enclosed and equipped for outdoor activities. The garden provides a large, green, and tree-filled environment that is well-defined and safe.
This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 632.969,57 and the project is currently being implemented.
