This project concerns the conversion of an industrial brownfield in the suburbs of Le Mans into 25 social housing units. It will contribute to the trajectory of the “zero net artificialisation” by 2050 and support urban revitalization. The site in Yvré-L’Evêque is a former factory, which covers a total area of 26,156 m2, including 6,400 m2 of buildings. The conversion will consist in deconstructing and depolluting the old factory and in constructing an eco-district comprising 25 social housing units (2,000 m2) and a cultural and social space. It will also include the preservation of natural areas, particularly wetlands located on the banks of the Huisne river. The overall cost of the operation amounts to EUR 1.7 million and the Recovery and Resilience Facility finances the project with EUR 610,000. Works are on-going and due to be finalised by Spring 2023.
