The investment is aimed at reconstructing the 30.3 km long railway Békéscsaba – Lőkösháza section to allow an increased speed on this section (authorised speed of 160 km/h), as well as for the extension of the line to two tracks (EUR 372 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility). Additionally, it will target the development of ETCS L2 train control and the modernisation of Kétegyháza and Lőkösháza stations. This railway section is significant not only from a domestic point of view, but also from an international perspective. With this development, the whole TEN-T railway corridor in Eastern-Hungary will be extended to two tracks. ReferenceC5.I2.Project locations Hungary EU contribution€372 000 000
