Programme for the construction of social rented housing in energy-efficient buildings

The Program for the construction of social rental housing in energy efficient buildings, included in component 2 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), aims to increase the public housing stock for social rental or at affordable prices with high energy efficiency standards, through the promotion of newly constructed housing or the rehabilitation of buildings not currently used for housing on publicly owned land, in accordance with the conditions set forth in Royal Decree 853/2021, of October 5, which regulates the aid for residential rehabilitation and social housing of the PRTR.

The program is endowed with 1,000 million euros of Next Generation EU funds, which will reach the final beneficiaries through the autonomous communities and cities, with which an agreement has been reached for the distribution of the first half of the funds, in proportion to the number of households in each region (Source: INE continuous household survey 2020).
