With over EUR 140 million, the Recovery and Resilience Facility supports economic recovery and transformation in Bulgaria through science and innovation.

EUR 120 million go for the implementation of innovation programs by 10 research higher education institutions.

The Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski" is supported with BGN 20 million from the RRP for the project  "Digital sustainable ecosystems - technological solutions and social models for ecosystem sustainability (DSEcoS)".

The project duration is 42 months.

Project objectives:

The intersectoral strategic programme for research and innovation development at Plovdiv University focuses on green economy and environmental solutions.

Its objective is to devise and carry out eco-friendly technologies, product recycling, and extension of their life cycles.

The primary research themes presented here are devoted to green innovation: principles of the green economy, energy efficiency and the use of energy-efficient technologies, waste treatment and the collection and production of energy from waste, sustainable development of the energy ecosystem, etc.

Green innovations seek solutions to balance industry, human activity, and the environment.

The new approach will prioritise technological solutions to meet the key objectives of European policies: low carbon footprint, increased proportion of renewable energy, and minimising waste production or converting waste into biofuel.
