Program of aid to municipalities for the implementation of low-emission zones and sustainable transformation of transportation

This investment receives 1.500 million euros from the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

These grants contribute to the objective established in the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan of reducing private traffic by 35% to help mitigate pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions, reduce noise levels, improve the quality of life in cities and facilitate the development of active mobility in urban environments.

The lines of aid are aimed at municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants and provincial capitals, which are competent to provide public transport services and which are required by the Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition to implement low-emission zones (ZBE).

The initiatives included in the lines for the promotion of modal shift, fleet transformation and the digitalization of transport are also aimed at municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants that meet certain criteria, such as having public collective transport services.
