Plan to improve efficiency and sustainability in irrigation

Investment C3.I1 and Investment C3.I11, called "Plan for the improvement of efficiency and sustainability in irrigation", with an allocation of 713 M and 210 M respectively under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism to carry out investments in the modernization of 160,000 hectares of sustainable irrigation, with the aim of promoting water saving and the improvement of efficiency and/or energy sustainability in Spanish irrigation systems.

These irrigation modernization actions included in the framework of the PRTR are going to be channeled through SEIASA, since this State Trading Company is the instrumental company which the MAPA has to carry out its "classic" irrigation modernization policy.

SEIASA's experience during its more than 20 years of life guarantees the successful achievement of the above mentioned Plan.

All modernization actions within the framework of the PRTR have been selected by the MAPA from among those proposed by the Autonomous Communities, in accordance with the requirements of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and implementation of new technologies required by the European Union for the application of the recovery funds.

As they are financed with EU Recovery Mechanism funds, all the actions must be completed by the second quarter of 2026 at the latest.
