The emphasis is on green innovation and sustainability. The investment consists of two main strategies, both executed without using new land:- Upgrading and expanding social housing, enhancing urban quality, improving accessibility and safety, addressing housing shortages, and boosting environmental quality. This involves employing innovative models and tools for urban management, inclusion, and well-being.- Targeted initiatives on public residential buildings with significant strategic impact nationally. The selection of funding proposals will be based on indicators that assess the environmental, social, cultural, urban-territorial, economic-financial, and technological-processual impacts of the projects. The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1.4 billion. This project is part of this investment. The proposal envisages the construction of a public housing, social housing, and co-housing complex with accommodations to be allocated temporarily on the basis of the rotation principle. It is necessary to demolish the existing school building, that is in a serious state of neglect and decay, acknowledging that it cannot be recovered. The project takes into account the principle of reducing soil consumption. It is planned to have a gross usable surface of 5,813 sq. m. (close to that of the existing building of 5,216 sq. m.), and a covered area of 2,140 sq. m., which is significantly smaller than that occupied by the building to be demolished (3,245 sq. m.). The ground floor will be used for public services such as a day centre for elderly people, a toy library, a neighbourhood lab/observatory, a space for entertainment activities and a centre for cultural activities. Public car parks, greenery and open spaces are planned for the outdoor area, to encourage socialisation processes and establish a direct relationship between the living space and the public space of relevance. A new cycle path will connect the area to the metro station. This will include a section of street lighting and the paving of a road section connecting to the consular route. This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 14.000.000,00.
