Copyright: Vismigratierivier The Recovery and Resilience Facility contributes EUR 693.7 million to lowering the negative externalities associated with the deployment of additional offshore wind power capacity. The Fish Migration River, which is one of the four projects that is part of the sub-measure Strengthening and protecting the North Sea ecosystem, stores the swimming route of migratory fish between the Waddenzee and the IJsselmeer. This not only benefits migratory fish, but also improves the water quality of the IJsselmeer, increases the numer of plants and animals in the area, and benefits birds that mainly eat fish. The Fish Migration River is the first in the world in terms of scale and complexity. It is expected to be completed in december 2025.
