Plan for nurseries and preschools and early childhood education and care services (Mission 4, Component 1, Investment 1.1)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan includes an investment plan for the 0-6 age group, aimed at increasing the supply of childcare facilities by building, renovating and ensuring the safety of nurseries and preschools, to ensure an increase in the educational offer and the available slots for the 0-6 age group, and thus improve teaching quality. The measure is expected to encourage women’s participation in the labour market and support caregivers in reconciling family and professional life. The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 3.2 billion. The construction of the new nursery in Via Capestrano is part of this investment. The project involves the construction of a single-storey building of 968.5 m², designed according to Rome’s energy efficiency and renewable energy guidelines. It features glued laminated timber elements, exposed masonry, large windows, and natural outdoor materials like wood and stone. The layout includes three teaching units for 60 children around an inner courtyard. Sustainable features include radiant floors, solar panels, heat pumps, and native vegetation. Safety is ensured by a 2-metre fence, and separate pedestrian and vehicle access is planned. The structure combines reinforced concrete and Canadian-tiled roofs with energy-saving systems throughout. This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 1.814.400,00.
